No swings
Emily and I went in search of swings today, but couldn't find any. We walked to the closest park and the elementary school near our house--both had awesome playgrounds, but no swings. We'll have to try the other park that's nearby on another day--maybe they have swings.
Oh, and this is my free, slightly sun-bleached jogger stroller.

Stormy Saturday
Sippy cup
Mr. Steele
We turned in our military IDs on Wednesday--we're not longer a military family. We will get inactive reserve IDs soon, so we can still enjoy some benefits, but right now we have nothing, which is strange.
Checkup
Emily went to get the rest of her 6-month shots yesterday. They were out of two of them on base, and now that we're on my insurance, we were able to get them. She weighs 16-12, which is only a 12 ounce gain from her actual 6-month checkup 6 weeks ago. So while she was in the 90th percentile for everything at 4 months, she's now below 50 in height & weight--especially height. So she actually got a 7 1/2 month physical and three shots (they added in a flu shot for good measure); we'll go back in a month for the second flu shot & early 9-month checkup.

Fixed ring
I forgot to post that I got my ring fixed last week and am finally able to wear it again. I noticed one of the prongs was scratching and snagging a lot, and I was afraid it was loose, so I haven't been wearing it. When I took it to get fixed, they also sautered them together, and pinched the wedding band diamonds in just a little so that there weren't gaps on the sides any more. I love when my ring gets cleaned and it's sparkling!

Sunday's photos
Bedspread
I finished one side of the duvet cover yesterday. I'm pretty excited about it, although I wish
you could see how well the reds match the wall. You can see stripes through the white because of my striped duvet underneath. It's pretty big, and I haven't measured it against the actual comforter yet, but I'm glad it's big rather than small.

Sick
We are sick here. I came down with a stomach virus Thursday night (lots of puke), and Jon's been achy and not feeling good since the middle of the day Friday. Luckily, Emily seems fine.
Faker
Emily has started this fake crying thing with me--she'll squish up her eyes and pretend like she's crying to try to get a reaction. Great, the drama begins.

Back in the bedroom
Mardi Gras parade #1
As part of our sevant evangelism, our church passes out free water and hot chocolate at the two Mardi Gras parades that we have here in Shreveport/Bossier. Yesterday was our first time to attend, mainly because I picture the chaos of the Rose Parade or various Disneyland parades, and I'm not a big fan. But we go about 2 1/2 hours before they start, so it wasn't bad at all. I actually had a good time--the best part is convincing people that it really is free.

Back to school
Emily and I headed back to school today, only I think she had a better time than I did. I did not get the best subs in the world, and my students acted like wild monkeys. So some of them spent time cleaning my classroom rather than attending the pep rally. Stinks to be them.

My favorite Superbowl commercials
Can you tell I'm home again with Emily?

Darn age of technology
We haven't had the internet at school since Thursday at noon--the entire district is down. It is very annoying. And I can't understand what's taking so long. So if you've tried emailing me at school, I haven't received it. Thus, I don't hate you, I just can't reply.
Sickie
Yesterday Emily came home from school at about noon with a fever. Luckily, she already had an appointment scheduled for the 6-month shots that she didn't get on base (since they were out). So we went for the fever instead. Coolest thing ever--they did a finger stick, and were able to do blood tests right in the office! And Emily didn't even flinch or cry or anything when they were getting her blood--and she was thrilled with her Daffy bandaid on her thumb afterward (very entertaining). Her white count was right at the top of normal, so we're on some Amoixicillin, but no earaches or anything. She's still running a fever this morning, so I got a sub for today. The best part ever--the doctor's office called this morning to check and make sure she was doing okay!!!!! They said that if she gets worse and needs to come back in, they have a spot for her! I wanted to go hug them. Anyway, she's been fussy and sleeping a lot, so hopefully she's getting better.

Cold morning
Saturday morning cartoons
On Saturday mornings we like to watch the animated channel--I'm not sure what the actual title is, but they show all cartoons, and close to no commercials. You can see that the house is still a wreck from the bedroom remodel, but we're having fun.
We have managed to keep the dogs off of the bed until today--Jon said his feet were cold.

Adjustments
It's been weird adjusting to Jon's new schedule this week. I mean, since we've been married, we've both been up at 5 or 5:30 to go to work, and we've gotten off of work at around 3pm. At his new job, he's off at five or so. Which means Emily and I have a couple of hours to hang out before he gets home. Well, actually, she usually sleeps from 4-5:30 or 6 (see previous post on sleep), so I have some time to kill. Sometimes it's nice, because I can do some chores--cleaning, making dinner, doing laundry. Other times I get bored. Especially today, Friday, when I want to celebrate the weekend. Although in all actuality, our weekend will consist of painting the bedroom & putting it back together, there's something magical about Fridays. And he's working late. Rats. I'm sure in a few weeks we'll settle into a new routine, a new schedule.
