I'm a duck!
Ever since we bought the duck towel, she runs out of the bathroom and screams, "I'm a duck" to whichever of us isn't in the bathroom with her. This wasn't her most enthusiastic exclamation, but you get the idea.
Matchbox cars
I was returning a few things at Target yesterday, and bought Emily a present that she was VERY thrilled with--matchbox cars. Some of the boys have them at school, and she's always jealous. So for 97 cents each, I figured I could get her a pair (one red, one blue). They're not the best pictures, but she wasn't ever still.

Baby shower
I had a shower at church today, and it was a lot of fun. It's kind of weird having a shower for #2, especially when it's another girl. I feel slightly selfish, but it was lots of fun to get new things for the new baby--I mean, she deserves new things!
Cupcake cake
I've included this picture so you can kind of see how big my belly is now (I feel huge).
Another attempt to give you a belly idea.
We made out like BANDITS!
Hooray for diapers, wipes, pacifiers, and other necessities!

I survived
After 30 years, I finally have my first cavity. For those who know me well, you know how terrified I am of teeth-related things. But today I survived my first filling. It only took about 25 minutes from the time I sat down until the time I walked out, but I went in about 30 minutes late, which was NOT good for a stresser like me. I am sad that I can only take Tylenol, because I'm not thrilled with the post-Novocaine results.

Pics of the coloring fest
President's Day
We have enjoyed our Monday off--thank goodness presidents have birthdays. Jon got up and went to the gym early, and he came home right when Emily was getting up so he let me sleep in until 8--it was amazing. We ate blueberry pancakes and did chores and hung out--colored, played, cleaned. After lunch & a nap (okay, Emily was really the only napper) we tried to go to our usual park, but EVERYONE else had that same idea, so we went to a different one. We had just as much fun on the slightly sketchier equipment.

And some videos from today (I forgot to mention that Emily also gave me a manicure):

Bath fizzies
A little while ago we bought these colored fizzies for Emily's bath (fyi--not necessarily worth it. There are not that many colors that look okay in a bathtub--yellow, red and green all look kind of bad. Blue and purple are okay, but still strange). She just discovered, however, that she can draw on her body with them if she doesn't drop them into the tub. Which is also odd, because we were looking for bath crayons.

She has her goofy squinty face and a split lip in this picture--classic.

On Tuesday when Jon & I celebrated Valentine's she got a tattoo at the babysitter's. It's a dog (look sideways and think Wishbone) and she LOVES it--and it's stuck around longer than I've ever known them to stick.
Boxes
Silly side note: I ordered several items, and knew they were coming in different shipments. The first to arrive was supposed to be a toddler hooded duck towel and a tray for our Bumbo seat. This HUGE box showed up...it contained an infant towel and a CASE (6) Bumbo trays (even thought they still only charged me for one). They told me to keep the towel and they sent to correct size, and I shipped five of the trays back. Someone in their warehouse needs to focus!

Child-safe and child-proof are not the same thing
When we moved the office into our bedroom, some potentially dangerous things came with it--like the paper shredder. We are sure to keep it unplugged at all times, so that Emily won't get hurt. However, I did forget about the part where the lid can come off, making shredded paper available to little hands. (You try to do laundry for one minute...)

She did redeem herself by picking a lot of it up (singing the "clean up" song helped).

Potty!!!
Emily went to the bathroom in the toilet today! She and Jon were home this morning, she told him that she had to potty, so her put her on (we didn't even have anything kid-friendly). Strangely enough, she went! I'm not holding my breath that this is going to be anything permanent--we were planning on waiting until after the baby came. But we did go out and buy her a safer seat and a step stool to wash hands, so we're prepared should she want to go again. Today she's sat on it several times, but with no other successes. At least she's not afraid of it.
Stats
Emily's 18-month checkup went well (it was actually about 3 weeks ago, but I forgot to report). She was 32 inches tall and weighed 24 pounds--finally boosting her above that 50th percentile in height & weight. We all know that her head was still in the 90s...
