Sickie
#3 Extravaganza
Jon took a half day on Tuesday and all of Wednesday off so that we could have date days and take advantage of paid-for daycare (cheaper than a babysitter). Tuesday we saw Pirates, and Wednesday we saw Shrek and Spiderman. I felt like a teenager--we walked out of Shrek, walked right into line, and then back into the theater for Spiderman. Perfect.

What I love about summer vacation
I can no longer say sleeping in (Em was up at 6, and we'd eaten, gotten dressed, done Wal-Mart, played, and gone down for a nap by 9am), so I'm deciding that what I really like is being able to cook a nice dinner and still have the energy to clean it all up afterward.
You'll be proud of me--this is the first time I've ever cooked seafood! We had shrimp & barbecued Tilapia, along with corn on the cob & rice pilaf (Grandma Hale's recipe, of course).
Emily had ravioli, because she's been REALLY into eating with her hands recently, and didn't want to wait for the fish. Oh, and for dessert we had tapioca, to go with the fish theme (fish eyes...).

Kronk's friend
Kronk made friends with another Dane today--he was visiting our neighbors across the street. Kramer is a 9-year-old Brindle (Kronk is a Harlequin), which is pretty darn old in Dane-years. He used to be a show dog.
*Sorry for the nature of the pictures--I was trying to get some and hold Emily, who desperately wanted to hold the camera, so I had to take them quickly. On the top one I wanted to show how much taller Kronk was than the other dog.

This week...
Sorry for the lack of posts. You'd think that with company gone, I'd have more time to post.
*Today is the last day of school (!!!). Yesterday was the last day for students, and we have to go today (pointless, except for the part where we get to go out to lunch).
*Latest happiness--vanilla coke is back. Now I don't have to spend all of my money at Sonic.
*Emily is saying "uh-oh," or it sounds a lot like it. We'll have to get it on video soon.

Teeth, teeth everywhere
Poor Emily is getting all four top teeth at once. Grandma bought her some teething toys and popsicles, and we also invested in a real toothbrush so that we don't have to use the finger thing any more.
She was a bit like a dog getting her ears scratched when we brushed her teeth--and she cried whenever Jon would quit.

You can kind of see the bump on her left eye where she fell & hit the coffee table. Sadly, it did not produce an impressive black eye like we had imagined.
Visitors
This past week Jon's mom and grandma have been visiting. Emily has LOVED staying home and being spoiled by them. We have loved having them here! They arrived Monday (Jon picked them up in Dallas), and they're heading back tomorrow. We will be sad to see them go.

Mother's Day
Poor Jon (& Emily) didn't have the best setup for my first Mother's Day (long, boring story), but I had a great day. Emily told me that she wanted me to stop and get Starbucks on the way to church, so that was nice. Then Jon sat with me for nearly all of first service (a rarity among pastors). He brought home lunch with a special dessert. He bought me a surger (woohoo!!), and Em made me a wonderful picture-flower at school. I had time this afternoon to do what I wanted to do (even though Jon would rather those things not include laundry & vacuuming). This evening I'm going to simply relax. A great Mother's Day.
Crawfish Boil video
Click on this link to the Crawfish Boil promo for our church...Jon helped make the video, and it's hilarious!

Fun at the Fosters
We watched our friends' (the Fosters) kids (Cade, 5, & Emerson, 3) on Saturday while they ran down to Alexandria. We had lots of fun at Camp Foster.
