Grandma is wearing us out!

OMSI with Grandma

My pretty, pretty princess--this is the third dress from yesterday. (Cindy--what have I done!? Look at this girl in all pink with sunglasses, bracelets, and pretty shoes).
Apparently OMSI doesn't open until 9:30...so if you get there at 9, just wander around and look at the river.

Enjoying the freshly raked sand because we're the first ones there!

For Uncle Jim (and other smart people)

This is one of my prouder moments.

Emily reaps the benefits of grandma & the outlet mall

Her favorite new princess dress (there was a third dress, but she wouldn't take this one off to model it):
The "zoo dress" with the animals at the bottom:
CUTE flip-flops
Bracelets
Ah, it's tough being a princess.

Grandma is fired

Grandma taught her this song, and it was sung the rest of the way home. Grandma is banned from singing ever again.

Zoo with Grandma

Trying not to duplicate too much...the sea lions, one of her current favorites:

Cougar in the tree
Sooooo excited to pet the goats
Orangutans were hiding under their food bags

Cute little ocelot

Blueberries

We met up with the Budds to pick blueberries yesterday, just before delicious dinner at their house. I neglected to get any pictures of playing at their house, but I did get some at the blueberry farm. We had to be quick, but we managed to get four pounds of blueberries for $3.

The battle of wills

On Monday we had an epic food battle. We were asking Emily to finish 1/4 of a piece of peanut butter toast for breakfast, and she was testing boundaries. It lasted more than two hours. I went through periods of ignoring it, being angry/frustrated, and wanting to cry (when she was sobbing so hard that her face was all blotchy and she was shaking). Early on (like first half hour), one of the ways I made it lighthearted (for me) was to get pictures and document it on video...

Some translations--at first she's saying, "no pictures". Then she tries to tell me she's poopy (distraction technique). Later she says, "I don't like it."

The arrival of Grandma

My mom came last night, bearing presents. LOTS of presents. Some favorites are pictured below: matching Dora sunglasses & watch, and new shoes.
The aftermath of the suitcase unloading--toys and present strewn everywhere.

Mr. Crab

We have a crab in our aquarium, but we only see him once or twice a week.  Jon lucked out and took his picture while he was out.

Does this baby seem big to you?

The photographer's (Jon's) shots

At Auntie Kim's

Before going to the annual Garden Home film festival (Kim's boss throws a big party and shows a movie on a giant screen in his yard every year), we hung out at Kim's. Emily played with Jenn's niece & nephews (Jenn used to be my roommate, and now she's Kim's neighbor).

Boots and coloring

Kim came over for dinner, and Emily tried on her boots. Yikes.
Everybody colored while Kim & I made caramel corn.
