Homework

Emily finally has homework. She was thrilled. She wanted to do it immediately and all at once (can we bottle and sell that?).

Ellen wanted to do "homeshmirt" too. So I drew her some shapes to color, just like Emily. And by golly, she knows them. And her colors. Smarty pants.

Hello Kitty party

One of Emily's best friends had a birthday party on Saturday. A Hello Kitty one. My creative best friend (funny how that works...our girls are best friends, without any influence from their moms. At all. Promise.) made Hello Kitty ears for the girls and even painted their faces.

And she made amazing HK cake pops.

Uncle Travis had recently bought the Bs a trampoline, so my girls got nice and worn out.

Notice the watching from underneath...

Birthday girl!

I promise Ellen & Abby were there, too. And 14 kids and lots of adults. I was just far too busy socializing. Maybe Jessica will post some pictures and I can steal them...

First soccer practice

Emily's first soccer practice was tonight. She was very excited. She chose her outfit very, very carefully.

Unfortunately, on the way to practice, there was a downpour. I don't think it has rained in more than a month--perfect timing. I wasn't prepared to have Ellen & Abby play in wetness...I didn't have a blanket or toys or anything. I also thought we'd be closer to the school playgrounds, and had hoped to use them as entertainment. Nope.
Abby played in the dugout, where we stayed during the on-and-off showers.

Ellen ran the bases on the baseball diamond, and played in the opposite dugout. She made quick friends with some other kids.

Emily was soaked, but she had a great time. She's a pretty fast runner, and never got tagged during duck-duck-goose, even by the boys.

Time to go home to take a hot bath...

9 or 10 months

I realized I forgot to post this girl's 9-month stats. A month ago.
Height: 28.5"
Weight: 20-8
Total cuteness.

First Day of School--coming home

The zoo animals (little girls) were very excited to see their sister again. Ellen desperately wanted to know if Emily had missed her.

Abby is working on her stare-down. Future hypnotist.

Coming home was it's own adventure...the bus was due to arrive at 3:54. After waiting for five minutes, we called the bus company, who said she was put on the wrong bus. They were going to give the driver directions to our house. She arrived about five minutes after that...and the bus driver said that he wasn't sure where she lived (her address is on the laminated, bright red bus tag that is zip-tied to her backpack). Then he told us where he'll drop her off from now on. So I have no idea if she was really on the wrong bus, or if he just didn't have her on his schedule. We'll make some calls on Monday.

First Day of School

Friday was Emily's first day of kindergarten. I got to come home during lunch (and had the first 15 minutes of my next class covered) so that I could see her off. We all waited in the front yard for the kindergarten bus to come. Emily was VERY excited that she wasn't going to have to use a carseat OR seatbelt. She didn't seem nervous, just excited and a tad business-like.

Her tag saying she can go straight to recess--she's already eaten lunch.

Kindergarten tour

This afternoon Emily got to meet her teacher, check out her classroom, and drop off supplies.

She found her seat:

Found the technology (projector remote):

Ellen found the road mat, of course:
